CFP Delivers Youth Session on Climate Finance & Sustainability to WWF’s Eco Interns

In line with its mission to build climate literacy and nurture the next generation of environmental leaders, Climate Finance Pakistan recently conducted an engaging session with WWF Pakistan’s Eco Interns. The session was led by Mekaeel Malik, Founder and CEO of Climate Finance Pakistan, and focused on equipping youth with practical insights into climate finance, sustainability, and climate leadership.

Held in collaboration with WWF, the session provided a deep dive into Pakistan’s climate vulnerability, the country’s carbon footprint, and the transformative role of climate finance in resilience-building. The discussion also explored how informed financial and policy decisions can shift the trajectory of emissions, equity, and sustainable growth.

As part of the session, interns participated in a carbon market simulation, where they were tasked with debating and selecting climate projects based on emissions impact, equity considerations, and financial trade offs. The simulation encouraged critical thinking around real world challenges like offset quality, co-benefits, and regional justice.

This interactive approach enabled students to not only understand how carbon markets function, but also evaluate them through a sustainability lens highlighting both opportunities and ethical considerations.

By making technical concepts like carbon pricing and emissions tracking more accessible, Climate Finance Pakistan aims to foster climate literate citizens who can lead on sustainability from wherever they are in policy, corporate, or community spaces.
